The first essays of actual stamps were made of the 2as & Re 1 denomination in various colour inscribed 'Specimen' in the year 1925, a year before India began printing her own stamps, these were printed in Delhi on unwatermarked paper, perforated 14 all around, for circulation amongst the members of the Central Legislative Assembly as 'SPECIMEN' of which could be produced in India. The two anna value was printed in six different colours, including the plate proof in black and the one rupee in eight different bi, coloured combinations.
